If you are using docker and mysql and getting something like
1231 Variable 'sql_mode' can't be set to the value of 'NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER'its a good chance you are using mysql 8.0 in cointainer and drupal 8 at this point supports only 5.7

so install mysql with tag that defines mysql version.
